How Much Luggage Fits in a Car Service? Choosing Sedan, SUV or Van in Connecticut
Short answer: Pick the vehicle by passengers and bags, not passengers alone. As a rough guide, a black sedan or crossover suits 1 to 3 travelers with about one checked bag and one carry-on each. A full-size SUV such as a Cadillac Escalade or Chevrolet Suburban suits families and small groups with several checked bags, and it has more room for bags when not every seat is filled. A Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or Ford Transit van is the pick for larger groups, ski or golf trips, and cruise luggage. Tell us your exact bag count when you book and we'll match the vehicle. Why passenger capacity isn't luggage capacity
A vehicle's seat count tells you how many people fit, not how many suitcases. Every row you fill takes space that bags would otherwise use, and hard-sided checked bags can't ride in the passenger cabin safely. Four people with four large suitcases, four carry-ons and a stroller need far more space than four people heading out for dinner. That's why we ask for both numbers.
Absolute vehicles and who they suit
| Vehicle (black fleet) | Passengers (fleet page) | Usually a good fit for |
|---|---|---|
| Executive sedan / crossover (Lincoln MKT, Lincoln Aviator) | up to 4 | Solo business travelers and couples with standard airline bags |
| Electric Ford Mustang Mach-E | up to 3 | Light travelers who want the electric option |
| Full-size SUV (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Expedition) | up to 6 | Families, small groups, extra checked bags, golf bags or a stroller |
| Mercedes-Benz Sprinter / Ford Transit van | up to 13 or 14 | Groups, ski and golf trips, cruise luggage, wedding guests |
| Stretch limousine | up to 8 | Weddings, prom and nights out; not the choice for heavy luggage |
Passenger numbers come from our fleet page. Exact luggage fit depends on bag sizes and on how many seats are in use, so we confirm the vehicle for your trip when you book.
A simple rule of thumb by group size
These are typical starting points, not guarantees. Your bag count decides the final vehicle.
- 1 to 2 travelers, a checked bag and a carry-on each: sedan or crossover.
- 3 to 4 travelers, or 2 travelers with lots of checked bags: a full-size SUV is usually the safer choice.
- 5 to 6 travelers with airline luggage: with every SUV seat full, cargo space shrinks. Bring it up when you book; a van or a second vehicle may fit better.
- 7 or more travelers, or anyone with skis, multiple golf bags, or a week of cruise luggage: Sprinter or Transit van.
Oversized and special items to mention
- Golf bags and skis or snowboards. They need length, which usually means an SUV or a van.
- Strollers, car seats and booster seats. Tell us the ages of children and what you're bringing, so we can confirm what's available for your ride.
- Wheelchairs, walkers and mobility equipment. Ask before booking so we can confirm the right setup. Don't assume a standard stretch limousine is accessible.
- Musical instruments, sample cases, boxes and pets in carriers. Mention anything large or fragile.
What to tell us when you book
- Number of passengers, including children.
- Number of checked bags and carry-ons, and whether any are oversized.
- Any special items such as golf clubs, skis, a stroller, car seats or mobility equipment.
- Your flight number for airport pickups, so the chauffeur can track your arrival.
- Pickup address and any extra stops.
Tolls are included in your quote.

FAQ
How many suitcases fit in a black SUV? It depends on the SUV and on how many seats are in use. A full-size SUV with some seats empty holds several checked bags; with every seat filled, cargo room drops sharply. Give us your bag count and we'll confirm the fit.
Is a sedan big enough for two people flying internationally? Often yes, if you each have one checked bag and one carry-on. With two large checked bags each, an SUV is the safer choice.
What if I bring more luggage than I booked for? Tell us as soon as your plans change. If bags won't fit safely, a larger vehicle or second vehicle may be needed, so it's best to book with the full count.
Do you have vans for groups going to the airport together? Yes. Our black Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit vans carry up to 13 or 14 passengers, and one booking can cover several vehicles.
